Move over, Santa—Seipelt sixth graders are delivering blankets, dog treats, and hot cocoa kits to spread holiday cheer and generosity to their community!

During a special All-School Morning event on December 6, the sixth graders, guided by Teacher on Assignment, Lauren Eigher, and supported by the PTA, led thoughtful service projects designed to give back to the community. The students brainstormed ideas and voted on their favorite causes, resulting in three impactful initiatives.

One group created fleece blankets that will be donated to the Blessing Bus, a mobile outreach program that delivers much-needed items to shelters in Over-the-Rhine, including a women’s shelter. Another group crafted healthy, homemade dog treats to bring some holiday cheer to animals at the Clermont County Animal Shelter. The final group assembled festive reindeer-themed hot cocoa kits to share warmth and joy with families served by the Covington Housing Authority.

What makes these projects even more special is that they are completely student-led. From brainstorming ideas to voting on the final causes, the sixth graders have taken the reins to create meaningful ways to give back.

“The students really wanted to do something impactful,” said Eigher. “This wasn’t just an assignment—they took ownership and made it their own.”

For students like Kyleigh, the experience has been deeply meaningful. “It makes my heart feel good knowing we’re helping people who need it, especially during the holidays,” she said.

The initiative not only ties into the school’s monthly focus on the character trait of generosity but also allows the sixth graders to reflect on their impact as they prepare for middle school. “This is a perfect time for them to come together, reflect on generosity, and contribute to something bigger than themselves,” Eigher added.
