Pause on Sister, Grade - Banded Schools & Additional Adjustments for the 2025-2026 School Year

Following the outcome of the November 2024 election, in which the proposed 1% Earned Income Tax did not pass, Milford Schools will move forward with adjustments approved by the Board of Education to address financial realities while maintaining our commitment to providing a high-quality educational experience.

During the December 10 Board Work Session, adjustments were made to the decisions originally approved during the October 17 Board Meeting. The Board unanimously decided on the following updated measures:

  • Transition to Sister, Grade-Banded Schools

    • The transition to sister grade-banded schools will be paused for the 2025-2026 school year

  • All-Day Kindergarten

    • All-day kindergarten will still be implemented across the district

    • Tuition for all-day kindergarten will be $5,000 per student

    • Due to budget constraints, scholarship opportunities will not be available

  • Pay-to-Play Fees

    • Fees for extracurricular activities will double with no tiered payment option.

  • Yearly One-Time Activity Fee

    • A new yearly $25 fee will be applied to students participating in programs with a paid advisor, such as honor society and student council

  • Transportation Services

    • Adjustments will be made to align with state minimum requirements

We understand that our MEVSD families and staff will have many concerns and questions regarding these changes. To support our community through this transition, the District will maintain an ongoing list of frequently asked questions and will do our best to provide answers and clarifications as we move forward. We ask for patience as District leadership works through the necessary transition details.
