Milford Exempted Village Schools (MEVSD) is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Ohio District Recognition Award for the 2023-2024 school year, a prestigious honor given to only 25 districts across the entire state. This recognition celebrates the district’s outstanding implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a proactive, evidence-based framework designed to support students’ social, behavioral, and academic success.
PBIS focuses on creating positive learning environments by providing tiered supports. Tier 1 encompasses strategies that benefit all students, Tier 2 offers targeted interventions for those needing additional help, and Tier 3 delivers intensive, individualized support for students with greater needs. The framework emphasizes collaboration among students, staff, and families to ensure a cohesive, inclusive approach to education. PBIS is an integral part of MEVSD's portrait of an Eagle mission to foster success for every student.
Achieving the Ohio District Recognition Award required rigorous documentation demonstrating excellence in PBIS implementation. Schools submitted tiered fidelity inventories and annual staff evaluations to meet state benchmarks. To qualify for district recognition, at least 80% of MEVSD’s buildings had to earn individual recognition. This year, nine of Milford’s ten schools received accolades, with Meadowview, Seipelt, and McCormick Elementary Schools earning Gold placement and Milford High School achieving Silver recognition—a notable leap forward for the high school.
This accomplishment was celebrated during the SST-13 Regional Showcase and Recognition Program on November 21, 2024. The event, which highlighted best practices from districts across Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren counties, featured presentations from Milford High School, Milford Preschool, and school psychologists from multiple MEVSD buildings. Notably, Milford was the only district at the program to receive the Ohio District Recognition Award, solidifying its role as a leader in PBIS innovation and impact.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, principals, and PBIS teams,” said Kelli Ellison, MEVSD Coordinator of Student Services. “The effort it takes to practice these strategies day in and day out is significant, and to see that recognized on both a regional and state level is incredibly rewarding.”
Looking ahead, MEVSD plans to build on this success by continuing to expand PBIS strategies district-wide. The district aims to elevate more schools to Gold recognition while sustaining its current achievements.
Congratulations to all MEVSD staff, students, and families for their contributions to this significant accomplishment. Together, we are creating a brighter future for our students and community.
