An important safety update: September 11, 2024 graphic

We want to address concerns regarding an image circulating on Snapchat that claims there will be threat of violence to MEVSD schools. We have thoroughly investigated the matter in collaboration with Miami Township Police Department and have determined that the image is part of a false rumor. There is no credible threat to the safety of our students or staff.

While this image and the false claims surrounding it may be alarming, we want to assure you that the school remains a safe environment, and we are taking this situation seriously. Similar misleading threats have been circulating in other districts across the country, and this is not an isolated incident.

Please remind your children that making threats, even in jest, is a serious matter. Students who make such threats may face suspension or expulsion, as well as possible legal consequences.

We also want to remind you that all elementary and high school buildings have dedicated School Resource Officers (SROs) who are committed to keeping our students safe. They are also available as a trusted resource for students to report any concerns or safety issues.

We encourage you to speak with your children about the responsible use of social media and the importance of reporting concerns directly to school administrators or trusted adults rather than sharing unverified information.

Out of an abundance of caution, our staff and school security will remain extra vigilant to ensure a safe and secure school environment. All schools will proceed with their normal schedule tomorrow, September 12, 2024.

Thank you for your attention and continued support.
