The Milford Basketball Association (MBA), a nonprofit that provides youth basketball opportunities, is seeing major benefits from the opening of the Meranda Sports Complex. The MBA, which serves over 110 teams, has been able to streamline its operations, saving tens of thousands of dollars by eliminating the need for costly external facility rentals. These savings not only help stabilize the association’s finances but also benefit families through reduced transportation costs and less frequent increases in player fees.

"The Meranda Sports Complex has been a game changer for us," said MBA President Kyle Norsworthy. "We’re able to maximize our practice schedules and reduce costs, allowing us to put more focus on player development and community involvement."

Now, with the addition of the Meranda Sports Complex, practices are held earlier in the evening, eliminating the need for external venues and simplifying logistics across all teams.

As the upcoming basketball season approaches, Norsworthy expects that parents will greatly appreciate the new facility, which eliminates the need for long commutes to practices. "Families will soon realize how much time and money they’re saving," said Norsworthy. "Not only has this facility provided us with the space we needed, but it’s also allowed us to offer boys' and girls' skills clinics—something we couldn’t do before.”

The Meranda Sports Complex, completed in 2024, features three full-sized basketball courts, locker rooms, a wrestling room, and other amenities like a concession stand and public restrooms. The multipurpose facility also hosts community events, making it a valuable asset for the entire Milford area.

Norsworthy noted that while the MBA is expected to raise player fees slightly this year, no additional increases are expected in the near future, thanks to the cost savings from the new facility. Additionally, the MBA plans to expand its programming, including hosting skills clinics and other events at the complex.

The Meranda Sports Complex is part of a larger initiative aimed at improving the Milford School District’s athletic facilities, supported by local funding and contributions. This investment ensures that Milford students will have access to modern athletic resources for years to come.
