Milford Schools Board of Education announces the appointment of Mary Anne Will to the Board, effective January 11, 2024. Filling the vacancy from December 2023, Ms. Will will serve the board through a term ending December 31, 2025.
A proud graduate of Milford High School and former employee at Milford Junior High School, Ms. Will is a lifelong Eagle. Ms. Will previously served on the Milford Schools Board of Education from 1985 to 1999. Her decades of community leadership extend beyond the district, including serving on the Great Oaks Board of Education, as the founding President of the Great Oaks Education Foundation and as President and Board Member of the Milford Schools Foundation.
Board President Emily Chesnut shared her gratitude for the community's engagement. "We are deeply thankful to the 53 community members who applied for this role. The high caliber of applicants highlights the community's prioritization of education,” Chesnut said. “Mary Anne Will's appointment is a testament to her extensive experience and strong connection to the Milford community. The board’s unanimous vote underscores the high regard we have for her commitment to educational excellence and community involvement."
In other business at Thursday's Organizational Board Meeting, Milford Schools swore in newly elected Board Member Myra Powers and appointed leadership roles. Emily Chesnut will serve as Board President, and Emily Mason will serve as Board Vice President.
The district also announces the resignation of Board Member Jerry Combs on January 11, 2024. The board will address the process for filling this vacancy at the next regularly scheduled meeting on January 18, 2024.
