Financial and Budget Updates
The board approved the five-year financial forecast. This includes projected impacts if no new levy is passed, such as deficit spending despite cuts. The board encouraged community members to advocate for full funding of the state’s Fair School Funding Plan, which is crucial to maintaining budget health.
Middle School Construction Progress
Updates on the new middle school construction highlighted significant milestones, including exterior brickwork, HVAC installation, and overall timeline. The building remains on track for an August 2025 opening, with discussions about future community tours.
2025-2026 Preschool Updates
Preschool locations of Mulberry and Pattison and registration dates were announced, with priority registration in December for currently enrolled students and a general lottery in January. Classes will be offered at Mulberry and Pattison Elementary Schools, aligning with the new grade-banding structure.
Future Financial Planning and Community Engagement
Superintendent Spieser addressed the recent levy outcome and outlined adjustments set for the 2025-2026 school year, including transitioning to sister grade-band schools, reducing transportation to the state minimum, and implementing a tiered pay-to-play system. The district plans to launch an FAQ page and hold financial listening sessions to engage with the community further.
