At last night's board meeting, Dave and Kathy Meranda, decades-long supporters of the Milford Schools community, were recognized for their $200,000 sustaining donation over 10 years. Their generous donation is designated to help offset the cost of the district's new athletic facilities. The contribution is the largest personal donation made to Milford Schools and will establish the Meranda Sports Complex.
The Merandas shared the profound impact sports have had on their family, emphasizing how athletics foster essential life skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and leadership. Their commitment to nurturing these values inspired their decision to allocate the funds to student athletics.
During remarks at last night’s Board Meeting, Dave Meranda said, “We've always thought the best entertainment in Milford is right across the street - whether it's arts or athletics." He also shared, "We want to ensure that Milford athletes who are here now and the ones who come later have the same opportunities our kids had.”
Board Members and Superintendent Spieser thanked the Merandas for their generous donation, which is seen as an extension of the integral part they have played in the Milford Schools community.

During this time, the Athletic Boosters contributed $2.5 million to privately-funded projects, leaving an indelible mark on the district's sports facilities.
Beyond his role with the Athletic Boosters, Dave's engagement extended to the district's Business Advisory Council, Central Committee, and Community Advisory Team (CAT). He played an instrumental role in supporting operating levies and bond issue campaigns, showcasing his dedication to the overall advancement of Milford Schools.
Most recently, Dave served as a member of the Board of Education and Board President. Kathy, has been an integral partner in their philanthropic efforts, sharing Dave's passion for enriching the educational experience of Milford students.
