SETTING THE SCENE: For the fourth time in the last five years, the Milford High School girls basketball team has advanced to the second round of the OHSAA Tournament after the Eagles knocked off Mount Healthy in last week’s opener. To stay alive in the tourney, Milford will need an upset as they will next face third-seeded Mason on Wednesday evening at Lakota East. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m. or 20 minutes after the conclusion of Ursuline-Western Brown contest.

GAME REWIND
Milford dominated the second and third quarters to shake off a slow start and roar past Mount Healthy 42-24 in the first round of the OHSAA Tournament. Neither team could get anything going in the first as the Owls led just 7-4 after eight minutes. But the next two periods were all Milford as the Eagles outscored the Owls by a 32-8 count to easily pull to victory.

POLL WATCH: Milford did not receive any votes in the final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll of the year. Lakota West was crowned the regular season poll champions by a scant three points over conference rival Mason. Mount Notre Dame, Walnut Hills of the ECC and McAuley round out the top-five. The breakdown of first place votes was seven for Lakota West, three each for Mason and Walnut Hills and two for MND.
