FACE MASK GUIDANCE (updated August 17, 2021)

  • Wearing a cloth face mask or face covering is required for all staff and all students in grades K-6 at our elementary buildings. At our junior high and high school, masking is highly recommended.

  • An acceptable face mask or face covering is any material that covers an individual’s mouth, nose, and chin. Face shields are not acceptable.

  • A face mask or face covering must be worn at all times when: In any indoor location, including, but not limited to, classrooms, gymnasiums, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and/or locker bays, except when eating lunch or at outdoor recess/activities.

  • If a student is unable to wear a mask due to a documented medical condition a parent must obtain a physician’s order for a mask exemption which should be sent to the building principal.

  • Preschool students and staff are not required to wear a face mask or face covering. However, all pre-school students are welcome to wear a mask if they choose.

  • Staff may remove their masks if they are working alone in an office or alone in a classroom.

  • Federal orders mandate that masks are required on school buses until at least September 13, 2021. All students and staff are required to wear a mask on school buses. The mask mandate on buses also applies to athletics, extracurriculars, and/or field trips.

  • As the school year progresses, there may be periods of time where illnesses increase in our Junior High and High School buildings, and in those cases, there could be mandates for mask wearing.

  • Extended Day students and staff will be required to follow the school masking procedures as outlined above.

  • Outside organizations not affiliated with Milford Schools, who utilize our buildings, are highly encouraged to wear masks.
