Superintendent House Announces Retirement
Nancy House, Superintendent, has announced her retirement. She will retire on July 31, 2020 after serving as superintendent for five years.
Mrs. House has worked in Milford for 27 years and is retiring after a total of 38 years in education. She taught English and Publications at Milford High School for 15 years. Then she moved into the role of principal at the high school for two years, before becoming the district's secondary curriculum director, a role she held for five years prior to being named superintendent in 2016.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve in a leadership role in the community where I have lived since 1988," Mrs. House said. "It is the right time to step into retirement. I will forever have incredible memories of teaching at Milford High School and working with amazing young adults and talented, dedicated colleagues. Every new role provided the opportunity to work with more members of our Milford family. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to get to know and work with the hundreds of Milford staff through the years, many of whom I call friends."
The Board of Education will now make plans to search for Mrs. House's replacement.
"My decision to retire was difficult, but it’s simply time for me to be with my loved ones. Life is precious, and life is short. I plan to spend more time with my husband, Ernie, who has been retired from Milford for four years, and our daughters Libby and Erika," Mrs. House said.
