The following was emailed to all families July 16 - it pertains to updated information about health orders:

Dear Milford Families, Staff, and Community:

We appreciate everyone’s dedication last school year to follow public health orders. Your efforts, the efforts of our staff, and the efforts of every one of our Milford students allowed us to complete the 2020-2021 school year on a positive note. We are proud to have been one of the few school districts in our region to offer families a choice last school year between online schooling or in-person schooling. We look forward to the successful return to school this fall, with 100 percent of our students in-person in our buildings

As you have most likely heard, this summer Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health lifted all health orders and rescinded the state of emergency in Ohio. As of June 2, 2021, the expiring health orders have been rescinded for schools as well. We are aware that COVID-19 is still active in our community and we will continue to be mindful of the health and safety of each other in our school environments. We will continue to be responsible and respectful as we return to a sense of normalcy next school year.

The following practices will continue within our school buildings next school year:

  • Frequent hand washing routines

  • Hand sanitizing stations throughout each school building

  • Thorough cleaning practices

  • The use of hands-free water bottle filling stations

  • Continuing to urge families to monitor their child’s health every day and stay home when ill

The diligence of our families, students and staff made it possible to prevent large outbreaks of COVID-19 in our schools last school year, and also helped to reduce the spread of seasonal colds, flu, and other communicable illnesses.

We have received questions and feedback about the use of masks in school buildings this fall:

  • Individuals are permitted to wear masks in school buildings or at school-related events, but it is no longer a mandatory requirement. Masks are optional.

  • As of now, Federal orders dictate that all students and staff must wear masks while on school buses, but this may change pending State and Federal updates on guidance and mandates. We will update you again closer to the start of the school year.

  • There may be periods of time where illnesses increase in our buildings, and in those cases we may issue recommendations for increased precautions, including the encouragement to wear masks.

We have posted the full version of our Safe Return to In-Person Learning plan on our website

We truly appreciate our students, staff, and families’ adherence to following public health orders throughout the past year. We look forward to carrying this positive momentum into the 21-22 school year!

Make it a great day!
