Board Approves Hire of New MHS Principal

On Monday, March 9, 2015 Milford Exempted Village School District Board of Education held a special Board meeting to hire a principal for Milford High School beginning in the 2015-16 school year. The Board approved the hiring recommendation of Joshua Kauffman to replace Mark Lutz who has chosen to return to the classroom next school year. Mr. Kauffman is currently the Principal at Indian Hill Middle School. Prior to holding this position, he was the Assistant Principal at Indian Hill High School for three years. He has also been an Assistant Principal at Fairfield High School, as well as, an English teacher and Communication Specialist at Oak Hills High School. He has his Bachelor of Arts in English from Xavier University and Masters in Secondary Education from the University of Cincinnati.

“We are impressed with the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm, Mr. Kauffman brings to the table and look forward to adding him to our team.  He has the knowledge to continue to increase the academic rigor at Milford High School, and the communication skills to help a large high school come together as one school community,” said Milford Superintendent, Dr. Robert Farrell.

 The Principal search process in Milford included the following steps:

  • Posted opening on a variety of local and statewide educational job search sites.
  • Used the survey that was sent to Milford High School staff to help focus the principal search based on the needs and priorities expressed from the staff.
  • Screened resumes with district administrative team to narrow field down to ten candidates.
  • A committee comprised of administrators, a Board member, high school teachers, a parent, and a student interviewed four candidates.   
  • Recommended two candidates for a final interview with the Central Office team who selected Mr. Kauffman. 

 “Mr. Kauffman has numerous strengths that make him an exceptional choice for Milford High School. He has excelled as both an administrator and teacher. He has a proven track record of success as an administrator with numerous state honors for his building,” shared Mr. Tim Ackermann, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. “In addition, while he was a teacher at Oak Hills he was named a Hamilton County Educator of the Year. Further, his experience as a communication specialist will also be a tremendous asset to his role as Principal.”
