Updated Mask Requirement for K-6

On August 16, 2021, the Milford Board of Education voted to require face coverings for all staff and all students in grades K-6 inside our elementary buildings. At our junior high and high school, masking is highly recommended.
An acceptable face mask or face covering is any material that covers an individual’s mouth, nose, and chin. Face shields are not acceptable. A face mask or face covering must be worn at all times inside our K-6 school buildings when students and staff are in classrooms, gymnasiums, offices, hallways, restrooms, and cafeterias, except when eating lunch and during outdoor recess or outdoor activities. Students and staff district wide in grades K-12 are required to wear masks on school buses.
If an elementary student is unable to wear a mask due to a documented medical condition, a parent must obtain a physician’s order for a mask exemption, which should then be sent to the building principal.
If an elementary student does not bring a mask to school, they will be offered a mask and asked to wear it. If they refuse to wear the mask, they will not be able to stay at school. The student’s parent/guardian will be called and the student must be picked up from school. The student cannot return to school until they follow the district’s masking procedures.
Please review details of the updated mask requirements in our revised Grand Re-Opening Plan.
