Milford Teams Excel at Robotics Competition

Posted on: February 9, 2017

Six Milford teams participated in a VEX robotics competition at the Great Oaks Invitational on Friday, February 3. They joined a total of 34 teams from schools across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky in the all-day competition. Teams have been working together for months to design, build, and program their robots for the competition.

Five out of the six Milford teams moved on to the semi-finals. Junior high students Shreya Terala, Emily Abas, Samantha Bowsher, and Carley Eggemeyer competed against high school team and earned a record of five wins and zero losses to become the #1 seed in the tournament! The team advanced to the finals before losing. The lady Eagles won the Middle School Excellence Award given to the best overall robot and is the top award at the event enabling them to move on to the State VEX competition later this year.

Thanks to the partnership with Great Oaks for offering this valuable program at Milford Junior High and the High School. VEX robotics aims to prepare our youth for the technological challenges ahead, and we couldn't have done it without their support.

Special thanks to Milford parent Rob Salvucci, member of the Milford Robotics Boosters, for sharing photos and the following video with highlights of the competition:
