school closed end of year

APRIL 20, 2020:  This afternoon Ohio Governor DeWine announced the closure of all schools through the end of the school year. Remote learning will continue. The last day of remote learning for preschool through 11th grade students will be May 28.

We are still finalizing details to hold a commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 and the high school will communicate that information soon. Traditionally, our senior class has been able to end their school year earlier than their younger peers. We can assure the Class of 2020 that they'll be able to enjoy that extra time this year as well. Our high school administrators are finalizing the details and will communicate that information to seniors soon.

We know the Governor’s order to close schools for an even longer period of time presents a challenge for our families. Although our buildings will remain closed, learning will continue. Our teachers will continue to communicate with students. Superintendent Nancy House expresses her sincere appreciation to all of our Milford families and all of our teachers and staff for their diligent, hard work since we initially closed our school buildings last month. We appreciate everyone's flexibility during this time.

For students at Milford High School and the Preschool: the building principal will be sending additional information regarding the process for cleaning out student lockers and/or retrieving personal items left at school. We will follow all guidelines from the Governor and state health officials regarding safety and social distancing when making decisions about opening our buildings in limited ways so students may retrieve their personal items. If your student left belongings in our other buildings (Boyd E. Smith, Charles L. Seipelt, McCormick, Meadowview, Mulberry, or Pattison Elementary buildings, or the Junior High) we ask that parents contact the building principal for information on how to access the building. (Contact information is available here.)

We still don’t know what the start of the new school year in the fall will look like. Our administration team is working diligently on a plan while following guidance from the Governor’s Office and Ohio Department of Education, but no decisions have been made. When that plan is finalized we will communicate the information to you immediately.
