Info about Graduation: Virtual & Formal Ceremonies planned

Unfortunately we had to cancel our in-person commencement ceremony for Milford High School's Class of 2020 that was scheduled for May 23 at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University. Cintas Center is closed through July 31.

While not ideal, and certainly not a replacement for the pomp and circumstance that comes with a formal graduation celebration, we have planned two events to celebrate with our seniors, and to ensure the extended closure of schools does not impede their future plans.

  • Virtual Graduation - On May 23, 2020, at 4:00 pm, to coincide with our originally planned graduation ceremony, we will be holding a virtual graduation. This virtual graduation will officially conclude the high school career of graduating seniors, finalizing their transcripts and preparing them for the next steps in their lives. Our virtual graduation will be streamed online, and will be a shortened version of our traditional ceremony, including a general conferring of diplomas to the Class of 2020. For this virtual ceremony, we will not be reading individual names of students. We will share with you the information for accessing our virtual ceremony as the date draws closer.

  • Formal Graduation - We would like to still plan for a formal and traditional graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020. Given the great uncertainty of the coming weeks and months, we are not certain when we will be able to gather in large numbers to celebrate (typically nearly 5,000 people attend a Milford HS graduation!) but, we have tentatively reserved August 4, 2020, at 4:00 pm at the Cintas Center at Xavier University for a formal graduation ceremony. It is our sincere hope that it will be safe and permissible to gather together on August 4 at Cintas Center. We will continue to monitor the situation and comply with the Governor’s directives and recommendations regarding social distancing and large gatherings. If restrictions and recommendations are relaxed in June or July, we will consider holding a graduation during that time, potentially on campus at the high school.
