Remembrance in the Meadows 10/8

Milford High School DECA marketing students, in conjunction with Miami Township Parks & Recreation, have planned the Remembrance at the Meadows program for Saturday, October 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The theme of this family-friendly event is Remembering the Heroes of World War II, and it will be held in the Spirit of 76 Veterans Park inside Miami Meadows Park on SR 131.

Activities:

9 a.m. - 5K Rosie the Riveter Run/Walk  http://register.miamitwpoh.gov

10 a.m. - Flag Raising Ceremony  

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Food Truck Pickles & Bones BBQ 

10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Student Art Show and Auction

10:30 a.m.-noon - Ohio Military Band

10:30 - 2 p.m. - Family-friendly activities including the following:

  • Passport to WWII History (a passport students can get stamped to indicate attendance and participation in this historical activity where they have to read and respond to various questions about the information (note: some teachers are using this activity as an extension of the classroom). There are two different passports available differentiated between elementary and high school.
  • Operation Gratitude Booth:  Everything needed to write a letter to a soldier and/or drop off supplies that will be packaged and sent to our service men and women.
  • Paper Airplane Race 
  • Ohio National Guard Blow-up Obstacle Course
  • Orienteering Challenge
  • Gift Basket Raffle
