The district experienced an increase in enrollment in the early to mid-2000's. In the past couple of years, enrollment remained more constant. The district constructed four new elementary schools after the community supported a bond issue for school construction in 2001. The community also supported a bond issue on November 6, 2007. That construction plan is for additions and renovations of Milford High School. The bond issue generated $31.375 million for new construction and renovation of the school which serves more than 1800 students, but has a capacity for 1365. The work on a new Ninth Grade Community wing is underway and is expected to be complete for the 2010 school year. Additional renovations and expansions will be complete during the 2010-2011 school year.

New for the 2009-2010 school year, the Milford Board of Education took action to change the district's grading scale. The new scale starting with the 2009-2010 school year will be a 10-point scale. (A=100-90, B=89-80, C=79-70, D=69-60, F=59 and below) A committee made up of administrators, teachers and parents determined that this grading scale would give students more equal opportunities for college admission and scholarships compared to students from other schools with the 10-point scale. The board agreed with the recommendation and made the change during the summer.
