George Lucas joined the Milford Board of Education in 2008. In 2010, he was elected as President of the board for this year. This is not his first time as a board member for the school district. He served on the board from January 1994 until December 1997 and served as president for two of those years.
He was born and raised in the Cincinnati area and has lived in Milford for the past 34 years. His three children attended Milford Schools in the primary grades. Two sons graduated from Milford High School and now his three grandchildren attend Milford schools.
He says, “I believe the Milford Exempted Village School District is an excellent place for children to obtain a great learning and developmental experience. The dedication to the well being and advancement of children has always been at the forefront of my life. I became very concerned with the community’s negative perception of the school district and the repeated failure to support funding of operations. I felt people in the community were looking for someone with previous experience, no nonsense approach and without a personal agenda to step forward.”
His professional experiences have provided him with many opportunities to demonstrate leadership and management skills. He currently is a General Manager for Osterwisch Company and serves as a mechanical contractor for construction.
He hopes to contribute many things during his four year term as a board member. He says, “My contribution will focus on educating and uniting the community to restore trust in the board, belief in our students, teachers, and administrators. I hope to apply my experience and leadership as a previous board member, open communicator, and business manager to the Milford Board of Education. There are many who watch things get done, some who want things done and a few who actually get things done. Each individual must decide which applies to them. For George Lucas, he decided to take an active role in getting things done for Milford Schools.
He is serving a four-year term which expires in 2012. He is serving on the Building and Grounds committee and the Athletic Committee. |
